Apex Elements – a St. George leather collection, Volume II

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.

A August study. Volume II.

APEX ELEMENTS is a St. George, Utah leather collection drawn from the rare metals worked west of town and the hands that still care what a material is made of.

First, we gave germanium its specimen-card dignity. ELEMENT 32 runs the length of the luggage tags, with the black leather carrying the gold.

Next, we set gallium and germanium side by side. The neighboring elements make a compact pair on the keychains.

Then, we marked gallium's famous threshold at 86 degrees. MELTS IN YOUR HAND turns the catchall tray into a small material joke for anyone who reads the fine print.

We measured a Washington County lode claim along its vein. The 1,500-foot survey line sits in the lower corner of the journals like a field note worth keeping.

And finally, the Apex story moves from mine adit to circuit. FIRST OF ITS KIND carries gallium and germanium upward through the toiletry bags.
