Between Chapters – a leather stamping study for readers and writers
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.
A September study.
Volume I-D.
Between Chapters is a small leather collection for people who live around books – the reader who promises one more chapter, and the writer who is somewhere inside a draft. Four original stamps, one habit each.
First, we drew an open book the way it looks from far away – a bird in flight – and sent a small flock climbing over the words GOING PLACES. A luggage tag for the reader who packs the paperbacks before the clothes.

It runs lengthwise along the tag, in pale sea-blue and warm caramel. The black tag carries the design in gold.

Next, the promise everyone makes and happily breaks: ONE MORE CHAPTER, under the crescent moon that hears it most often. We pressed it on keychains in deep forest green and pale rose, and into the corner of the toiletry bags – warm caramel over deep espresso – for the reader who travels.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the catchall tray became a page. We folded its corner down into a dog-ear and wrote HOLD MY PLACE inside – the tray keeps your evening where you left it, reading glasses and all.

And finally, for the writer. The journal cover says FIRST DRAFT – except a small caret has already slipped in ahead of the first word, inserting VERY. The editing begins before page one does. In deep wine and pale greige.
It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
