Chickadee Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Chickadee Travel is two advisors named Austin in Minneapolis – wedding and honeymoon specialists who describe themselves in four words we couldn't beat: “two advisors, one flock.” Their mark is a black-capped chickadee, the small hardy bird that stays through a Minnesota winter and still lands on your hand. It presses wonderfully, so first we pressed it as found, Didone serif and all.
The mark, as found

Pressed
Country gray for the chickadee's own slate cap, a warm russet for the “travel with heart” of it, and black for the gold pass.

One flock
Then the second die, for the couples they send off: two chickadees on one twig, facing each other, close but not touching – because the ones who travel the world together always land on the same branch.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
