Gabriela Martinez × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Gabriela Martinez of the Printful Blog.

For the warm-up, we put the Printful logo on the luggage tags. The warm red and the pale sea-blue come straight from the icon's triangles. The black tag answers the wordmark and carries the gold.

First, her own test. Gabriela wrote that the best company swag makes people feel truly seen, and that a logo is only a first step. So the collection begins where the logo stops – an open eye above the words TRULY SEEN.

On the toiletry bags it sits low in the corner, keeping a kind watch over the things nobody else sees.

Next, one from the trade. Every piece she publishes lives by the hook – the line at the top that holds the reader. This one holds keys.

One fob in pale sea-blue, where a hook belongs; one in warm red. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the kindest word an editor knows. STET – let it stand – is the proof mark that spares a sentence from deletion. We set it in the middle of the catchall tray, where whatever lands in the evening is allowed to stand until morning.

It looks genuinely beautiful pressed into the golden tan.

And finally, the one we made for the corner where a signature lives. The journal's stamp sits in the lower right of the cover, so that is where her byline went – every page she fills is credited before the first word is down. One journal in black, one in warm red.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
