OUTWARDEN Robotic W Study: Six Quick Logo Prototypes
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of visual studies.
A September study.
Quick robotic logo prototypes for OUTWARDEN, sketched fast on the bench to compare directions. Every board carries the same working parts: a large symbol, the full wordmark with that symbol standing in as the W, a small silhouette, and its swatches.
Two families this round. The F boards fold a frontal dog face into the W itself, ears up and eyes watching. The P boards build the W from two outward-facing hounds whose necks cross at the letter's centre. Six takes, six palettes, one honest comparison.
F1 cuts the whole face from negative space, with two circular apertures for eyes.

F2 squares everything onto a strict grid, with chamfered ears and calm slot eyes.

F3 softens the face into three rounded shell panels split by thin seams.

P1 builds each hound from flat angular facets meeting at a sharp central apex.

P2 keeps one unbroken silhouette and carves the paired hounds as crisp cutouts inside it.

P3 gives each neck a single visible pivot joint, folding the hounds into a segmented letter.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before making anything real.
