Meet Me at the Square × Leatherius Woodman – a Medina, Ohio leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study – Volume I-D.

Medina, Ohio keeps a square the whole town returns to, and this study presses that habit into leather. Five original designs, one collection – Meet Me at the Square.

First, we drew the octagonal gazebo at the heart of Uptown Park and set the town's standing invitation around it – MEET ME AT THE SQUARE – for the luggage of everyone who carries Medina away and means to come back.

The black tag carries the invitation in gold, the way the square carries its lights on a December night. Deep evergreen and warm poppy red follow in blind deboss.

Next, the keychains. We folded a paper luminaria, lit the candle inside it and wrote LIGHT THE WAY HOME beneath – the Candlelight Walk distilled down to the ring that lets you in the door.

Black carries the flame in gold. The caramel fob is the warm tan of the paper bag itself.

Then the journals. The band has played the square's summers since 1859, so we sent a five-line staff rolling across the cover corner beneath THE BAND PLAYS ON – the right opening bar for anyone starting a new chapter. It looks genuinely beautiful.

After that, the catchall tray. We mapped the square from above, four streets for a frame and eight paths meeting at the gazebo, and ran IT ALL COMES BACK TO THE SQUARE along the streets. A tray keeps the same promise – whatever leaves your pockets in the morning is home again by night.

And finally, the dopp kit. We took the scalloped Victorian rooflines of Court Street, pressed the skyline into the corner and set MEDINA OHIO beneath it, so the square turns up wherever the bag gets unpacked. Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
