One Good Saturday – a Greenville leather collection

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

Volume I-A. We thought about one good Saturday in Greenville – then pressed the whole day into leather, from a market keychain in the morning to a journal at night.

First, the morning. We wove a market basket into a stamp, greens and a baguette over the rim, and set MARKET FIRST beneath it – for the keys you grab before the good tomatoes are gone.

Next, noon on the bridge. We drew the Liberty Bridge as one long curve with the falls dropping away beneath the deck, and set GREENVILLE along the bottom in wide capitals. The black tag carries the stamp in gold.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the afternoon away. We set a low sun behind layered foothills and sent a road in between them; BACK BY SUPPER runs underneath, which is the whole promise of a Greenville weekend. The stack runs navy over chestnut – ridge line over table.

For the evening, the catchall tray. We laid a pulled cork at the center, helix still in it, and ran OPEN THE GOOD WINE around the rim – the bottle you were saving was meant for a night like this. Pressed into the golden tan, it looks great.

And finally, the one we liked the most. TONIGHT WE HAD, then a ruled blank line – the cover starts the sentence and supper finishes it, in deep wine and in pale greige.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
