Slow Company × Leatherius Woodman – a leather study in taking your time

From the Practice Log – Volume I-D, a gift-fit study of original stamping designs.

A September study.

Slow Company is a small collection of stamped leather about going at your own pace. Its patron is a tortoise, the one animal fully qualified to give that advice – he gets everywhere he means to go.

First, the flagship. We drew the tortoise face on, dome high and gaze level, and arched TAKE YOUR TIME over his shell – advice from someone who has clearly been following it.

We set the same press low in the corner of the toiletry bags, golden tan over chestnut – a morning kit is where the advice does its best work.

Next, the keychains – the easy first gift that outlasts most of the grander ones. We drew a cluster of mushrooms, every cap and crooked stem its own, over the words GROWS ON YOU. Which is what a good keychain does.

Then the catchall tray. We drew the shell alone, from straight above, ring within ring, and pressed it deep into the tray's golden tan – a shell is the original catchall, and here the geometry does all the talking.

And finally, the journals. A dotted trail switchbacks down the cover's corner to a small tortoise, still walking, over the words GETTING THERE – the honest status of everything worth writing down.
