The Story Keepers × Leatherius Woodman – a leather study in keeping family stories
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
A September study – Shops Waterfall, Volume I-C.
The Story Keepers – a small collection for the people who keep family stories in working order. Every archive begins the same way: someone turns a photograph over and writes down who is in it. Three stamps, each one a small instruction pressed into leather.
First, we turned a photograph over. The back reads NAMES ON THE BACK, with the album corners showing through and three ruled lines waiting for a pen – the first instruction every family archivist receives.

On a luggage tag the instruction keeps its own joke – the tag's card sits on the back, waiting for a name. We pressed it into three leathers, from archival navy to warm tan.

The catchall tray is where old photographs land while they are being sorted, so it carries the same instruction at a generous size, in golden tan.

Next, we drew a family tree that is honest about its condition – blank museum tags hang from the branches, and beneath the roots it says STILL GROWING. Every reunion adds a name.

It looks genuinely beautiful on the keychains – deep green for the living tree, warm tan for the timber.

On the toiletry bags – navy over chestnut – the tree sits quietly in the corner, blind debossed.

And finally, the journals. A pair of quotation marks with an empty ruled line between them, and WRITE IT DOWN underneath – the story already exists, somebody just has to catch it.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather – deep wine for the family record, pale warm greige for the loose pages.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
