The Sweet Tooth Society – a leather study of the candy counter
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies. Volume I-B.
A September study.
A small exhibition about the candy counter, pressed into leather. It begins with a membership badge and ends with the rule of the full box.
First, we minted the badge of a society everyone joins as a child and the lucky never resign from. The crest is a crown cap with its crimp intact, and at the center sits one wrapped candy under the words LIFETIME MEMBER.
The black luggage tag and the black fob carry the gold; the caramel fob takes a blind press in warm toffee tan. It looks genuinely beautiful.
Next, the hunt every candy wall quietly promises – that one candy you had as a child and have been describing to strangers ever since. We drew it found: a single twist of waxed paper with the light going up around it.
It rides a warm red luggage tag, and it settles onto the journals – pale warm greige and navy – where the things worth remembering get written down. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.
And finally, the house rule of every full box – heaped past the brim, the lid caught mid-press, one piece making its escape. IF THE LID CLOSES, IT COUNTS.
On a pale sea-blue luggage tag it reads like fine print. The golden tan catchall tray obeys the same rule every evening – whatever fits, counts. And on the toiletry bag stack, navy over deep espresso brown, it doubles as packing doctrine.
