The Chosen Thing – Volume I-D – a leather collection about gifts chosen well

A September study – Volume I-D.

Out of a store that holds nearly everything, a good gift is the one thing lifted out for one particular person. This small collection is about that lift – the moment of being chosen, and the years of being kept afterward.

First, the flagship. A saucer hangs over a row of identical little stars, and its beam lifts exactly one – a heart – with CHOSEN written beneath. A good gift performs the same maneuver; the beam just makes it visible.

We pressed it on three luggage tags. The black tag carries the gold, and in foil the beam reads as actual light; the vivid magenta and the pale sea-blue tags take a blind deboss.

The same mark rides in the lower corner of the toiletry bags, navy over deep brown – a night sky the saucer belongs in.

Next, one for the keeper of records. Four photo corners hold the words WORTH KEEPING, and a small heart sits where the date stamp would go. On a journal the phrase reads twice – the pages are worth keeping, and so is the person you hand it to.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather, on pale rose and on warm tan alike.

Then, the keychain speaks for itself. A little visitor hugs a house key nearly its own size and asks TAKE ME HOME – and once somebody obliges, the fob spends the rest of its life keeping that promise on their keys.

The little visitor looks just awesome on the deep green fob, and the warm red one is ready to be spotted across the room.

And finally, the tray. We drew a landing pad – concentric rings, with a saucer coming in low and LANDING ZONE written around the rim – because every set of keys ends its day with a landing. On the golden tan it sits centered and generous.
