The Slow Hours – a stamped leather collection for seasonal botanical blends
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies. Shops Waterfall, Volume I-A.
A September study.
A collection we call The Slow Hours, for a shelf where seasonal blends live – citrus cut crosswise, chamomile that takes its time. Five original stamps, pressed into leather that outlasts the season.
First, we drew a citrus slice in true cross-section and arched IN SEASON over its crown – the promise every small-batch shelf runs on. An orange wheel on the golden tan keychain, a grapefruit on the warm red one.
Next, we let a single rosemary stem wander the whole length of a luggage tag the way a good road wanders, needle leaves marking the miles, and wrote TAKE THE SLOW ROUTE beneath it. It runs lengthwise, blind debossed on caramel and on deep forest green.
The black tag carries it in gold.
Then, we gathered an elderberry cluster above the words SMALL BATCH – on a toiletry kit the phrase keeps both of its meanings. We pressed it into the lower corner of a navy and dark espresso stack.
Looks great when stamped onto the leather.
After that, LET IT STEEP for the journals. The string drops from the phrase into the cup, and the little tag at its end stays blank – that page is yours. One journal in deep wine, one in pale warm greige.
And finally, the one we liked the most. A simmer pot exhales two curls of steam, a citrus wheel and a star anise ride them upward, and SIMMER DOWN arcs across the top – centered in the golden tan tray where the keys land at the end of the day, and the day does what the pot says.
It looks genuinely beautiful.
