The Turning Sky – a leather collection of turning suns and moons

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

A September study.

Volume I-B. A small leather collection about the sky a garden answers – suns and moons, spinners and pinwheels, everything that turns when the weather arrives.

First, we gave the collection its sun – a calm garden-metal face with sixteen alternating rays, and FOLLOW THE SUN arched around it, so that on a luggage tag the ornament turns into advice.

The black tag carries the sun in gold.

Pale sea-blue and golden tan take the blind press.

The same sun waits in the corner of the toiletry bags – honeyed russet over deep espresso brown. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Next, the keychain that does the gift-giving for you. We set a toy pinwheel spinning in a fresh gust and wrote underneath it THIS REMINDED ME OF YOU – hand it over and the sentence is already said.

It comes in warm red and in pale sea-blue.

Then the tray. We slowed a whirligig down to a medallion – twelve curved vanes around a hub, ringed by ALL GOOD THINGS TURN – so the day empties its keys and coins onto a good omen.

It looks genuinely beautiful on the golden tan.

And finally, the moon for the journals. The old book says there is nothing new under the sun – the cover answers PLENTY NEW UNDER THE MOON, because that is the hour when notebooks fill.
