Thought of You – a Volume I-D leather gift collection for the people you know by heart

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies. Volume I-D.

A September study.

Thought of You is a small collection of leather gifts, each stamped with a recognition of one particular kind of person – the traveler who always finds the way back, or the one who remembers everything in ink. Five designs for five people, each on an object meant to be used daily.

First, the luggage tag – for the one who always finds the way back. We drew a swallow on the wing, the bird that crosses a continent twice a year and still lands on the same eave, and set ALWAYS FINDS THE WAY BACK beneath its flight line, with one loop in the line for the detours.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

The black tag carries the design in gold foil. Caramel and navy take a blind deboss.

Next, the keychain – for the one who locks up. Last out of the building, the person everyone trusts with the door. We reversed a keyhole out of an old escutcheon plate and set THE ONE WHO LOCKS UP around it.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather – in deep espresso brown and in golden tan.

Then the toiletry bag, where the stamp sits low in the corner and reads like a note slipped into the luggage. A small compass star over GO WELL AND COME BACK – the whole wish a traveler actually needs.

We pressed it into honeyed russet and deep espresso.

For the catchall tray we went to the ritual itself – pockets emptied at the door, the day set down. WHERE THE DAY LANDS arches over a house key still falling and a ring already at rest, stamped at a generous size into the golden tan base.

And finally, the journal – for the one who remembers in ink. A fountain pen nib with the drop just leaving it, and REMEMBERS IN INK beneath. We stamped it in deep wine, the color a bottle of ink dries to, and in pale greige, the color of good paper.
