Offbeat Luxury Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

An August study.

For Offbeat Luxury Travel.

OFFBEAT LUXURY TRAVEL in their own Botanica capitals – a wordmark wide enough to claim the whole length of a luggage tag, so that is exactly how we pressed it. Deep forest green for their pine and pale rose for their blush. The black tag carries the gold.

Their four-point star, swung a few degrees off true north – the small tick on the ring keeps a record of where north was supposed to be. On the passport it takes the monogram's place in deep forest green and pale rose, and on the toiletry bag it signs the lower corner, golden tan over deep espresso brown.

Somewhere in the little black book there is a dinner behind a door with no sign; the only marking we allowed is a star where the peephole belongs. It rides on the keychain, since that is the object that opens doors for a living. On the black fob the doorway is pressed in gold.

The house rule is “NO TWO TRIPS ALIKE. EVER.” and every one of them starts as a blank page – so the journal cover carries a boarding pass with its lines still open. Deep forest green and pale greige, the ink and the page.

A dotted route that skips the shortcut and takes the long loop to the star, pressed at full size into a golden tan tray. That is where the day's pockets empty out each night, whichever country the day happened in.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
