Aobh O'Brien-Moody × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
An August study.
For Aobh O'Brien-Moody.
First, we borrowed the editor's own mark. The luggage tags carry A LIFE ORGANISED in one long line, and a caret slips WELL into the gap – the smallest correction there is, and the whole argument for a good accessory.
It looks genuinely beautiful.
The black tag carries the stamp in gold foil; caramel and dark espresso take it blind.
Next, the oldest mark in the proofreader's kit. STET, dots underneath, let it stand – pressed into the corner of a gray sand and dark espresso pair of journals, where what gets written down is meant to do exactly that.
Then we gave the catchall tray a dictionary entry – ACCESSORY, noun, a thing added to something else to make it more useful. The cross-reference at the bottom points at whatever lands on the golden tan leather each evening.
For the keychains, we set THE USEFUL FEW in three rising lines with a small barrel key beneath – which is what a keyring holds when the editing is done right. Caramel and dark espresso again, pressed blind.
Looks great when stamped onto the leather.
And finally, USE IS THE FINISH, pressed small into the corner of a black over dark espresso stack. Patina was always the best argument for leather; we gave the argument its motto.
