Coeur d'Alene Fire Department × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

An August study.

For Coeur d'Alene Fire Department.

The official City of Coeur d'Alene mark, pressed letter-perfect on an upright family of luggage tags. Navy sits under the deep indigo of the lettering; golden tan and deep green pick up the warm shore and timber the mark paints.

Search teams rule a scene into a grid and clear it square by square. A leather catchall tray works the same beat – whatever went missing during the shift turns up in one of its squares, and the paw line got there first.

The department plans a whole city around a four-minute response, and on a sixty-minute dial that is a startlingly thin wedge. It rides the keychain because the four minutes start where the keys hang. The black fob carries the stopwatch in gold; the apparatus-red fob takes it as a blind press.

A search dog packs its own compass – here the rose rides in the middle pad of the paw, pointed north. The kit bags, navy over warm walnut brown, wear it small in the corner, ready for a callout that can name any place at all.

Twelve thousand hours of training in one year, counted the way a crew actually counts – five strokes at a time, with the last group left open. The journals, navy and deep green, are where the next strokes come from.
