Flick Financial and Four Boys Branding × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Flick Financial and Four Boys Branding.

For the warm-up, we pressed the interlocking F monogram, faithful to the original, into a pair of toiletry bags – golden tan over deep espresso, the gold-on-dark the brand already wears.

Next, we remembered the essay the firm published last December about building a wonderful life in a small river town. Every wonderful life has a bridge in it, so we drew one – three arches over the water and lamps burning on the span, with BEAVER FALLS above and A WONDERFUL LIFE below.

It runs lengthwise along the luggage tags, in golden tan and warm mid-gray, the ochre and the slate of the brand, with a black tag alongside. The black tag carries the design in gold foil. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the years. A tree that took root in 1957 keeps quiet count in its rings, so we drew the stump face and set the firm's own line, TRUSTED ADVICE SINCE 1957, in a circle around it.

On the keychains it sits below the rivet – one fob in warm mid-gray, one in black. The black fob takes the gold.

And at full size, in the golden tan catchall tray, where the keys land at the end of the day.

And finally, four panes for the name Four Boys Branding – the same small tree in each, carried from first buds to bare branches, every frame broken at its midpoints the way the monogram breaks its own. IN EVERY SEASON runs beneath.

The journals wear it in the seasons' own leathers – one in deep green for the growing months, one in honeyed russet for the harvest. Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
