Three luggage-tag studies for Google partnerships

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world organizations.

An August study.

Three ordinary ways for separate pieces to connect

Google presents useful products, leading AI models, difficult computer-science work, and global impact through a spacious modular visual system. Lee Moulton's current public work in eCommerce product partnerships focuses on APIs, composable commerce, developer experience, and independent systems working together.

The visible construction uses rounded modules, open seams, large white fields, and separate pieces completing a useful whole. These independent studies do not reproduce the Google name, the letter G, its exact mark proportions or color order, product icons, partner logos, or a conventional technology network. Instead, those behaviors become a toy train track left open at one switch, an ordinary wall socket, and a folding ruler that nearly closes a square.

As leather luggage tags, the concepts could be considered for approved partner launches, commerce conferences, API or developer gatherings, cross-company project teams, and offsites. The gift remains modest: a familiar object first, a partnership observation only after someone looks again.

Leather and treatment

Deep cobalt, rich red-brown, and golden tan leather give three mature material notes rather than a literal corporate palette. Tonal debossing carries the object quietly; the narrow antique-brass line on the tan tag is the only bright treatment and uses the same die without colored logo reconstruction.

The three concepts

1. The Open Loop Line

A toy train track forms an almost complete circular loop while one short section swings outward like a switch. Four unequal pieces and one inviting gap turn modular connection into a familiar play object.

2. Ready Socket

A grounded wall outlet waits inside one rounded plate. The picture is built from useful openings in an enclosure, making a standing invitation to connect without resorting to network nodes or a handshake.

3. Almost-Closed Folding Ruler

Four broad ruler segments articulate around round joints and almost close a square. Separate measured parts cooperate to make one useful frame, leaving the final seam visibly open for the next connection.

These are independent design studies for appropriate team, partner, collaborator, adviser, vendor, volunteer, or client occasions. No affiliation, approval, or endorsement is implied. Every image is a render used to test the object before cutting a physical die.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual.
