Three luggage-tag studies for Griffin Capital
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world organizations.
An August study.
A match kept ready, blinds raised, and a day worth circling
Griffin Capital Company presents a real-estate investment and operating platform with a long history in institutional real estate, portfolio programs, and community initiatives. Its public team and news materials also make people leadership visible, including organization-wide human-resources responsibility and programs that support employees, events, service, and recognition.
The current public system sets a small warm square beside a much longer navy rectangle, then extends that contrast through narrow divider rules, alternating light-and-dark headline bands, regular facade grids, and compact circular controls. These independent studies do not reproduce the griffin, crest, name, initials, properties, maps, or investment graphics. The square-and-rectangle relationship becomes an open matchbox and sleeve; the bands and vertical rule become half-raised blinds and their cord; and the grid plus circular control become a calendar with one day ringed.
As leather luggage tags, the ideas could be considered for approved employees, leadership retreats, service milestones, community-event teams, business partners, conferences, or other eligible recognition occasions. They do not imply investor eligibility or procurement approval. Each image has an immediate workplace meaning: keep a spark ready, let light into the room, and remember the date that deserves attention.
Leather and treatment
Deep navy, cool powder blue, and natural tan convert the public color relationship into a composed travel family. Blind impressions feel discreet and architectural; restrained antique-brass on tan makes the identical designs warmer for a milestone or service occasion.
The three concepts
1. The Long Match
A matchbox tray slides partly from a long sleeve, revealing three round-headed matches. The object is instantly familiar; the projecting square tray beside the extended rectangle precisely transforms the most visible proportional device in Griffin Capital’s public lockup.

2. Blinds Half Raised
Five horizontal blind slats gather above an open lower field, with one pull cord at the side. Raising the blinds is an ordinary start-of-day action; the alternating bands and single vertical line reconstruct the site’s headline rhythm and divider system.

3. The Circled Day
A plain wall calendar holds a regular grid and one boldly circled cell. The occasion needs no explanation, while the facade-like module rhythm and one outlined control become a practical image for anniversaries, milestones, and events worth marking.

These are independent design studies for appropriate team, partner, collaborator, vendor, employee, conference, recognition, or client occasions. No affiliation, approval, or endorsement is implied. Every image is a render used to test the object before cutting a physical die.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual.
