Highmark Health Plan × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Highmark Health Plan.

For the warm-up, we pressed the Highmark logo lengthwise along a family of luggage tags in navy and pale sea-blue. A blush tag joins them – their own palette keeps a warm coral corner, and we took it.

Next, the compass. We drew a mariner's rose and let the needle overshoot north, so it lands on the word REMARKABLE – the bearing their mission steers by.

Then the toiletry bags, where the day gets made. In the lower corner, a rising sun with AT YOUR BEST arched over it – the mission promises freeing people to be their best, and this is the bag that handles the morning shift. Navy over deep brown.

A catchall tray is a confluence – by evening, everything you carry ends up in it. So we drew the Point, where two rivers meet and leave as the Ohio, bridges and fountain in place, and set PITTSBURGH underneath.

And finally, the one we liked the most. Remarkable is a writing word – a thing earns it by deserving a remark. So the journal cover says REMARKABLE, underlined the way an editor underlines, and keeps a footnote for honesty: worth writing down.
