Hillary Hoffower × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of person-centered stamping studies in leather.

An August study.

For Hillary Hoffower.

First, we pressed an edit. Hillary's word for one year was flow; for the next she chose grow. So the luggage tags carry the correction the way a proofreader would mark it – F struck through, G riding in above the caret. The trio runs deep forest green and warm caramel tan. The black tag takes the mark in gold.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

Next, the shortest word in an editor's kit. STET – let it stand – with the row of dots that calls a struck line back to life. Leather is the material that obeys it: every mark it takes, it keeps. The keychains come in deep espresso brown and pale greige.

Then, the toiletry bags. Hillary once defined savings both ways at once – protection for the future, and permission to make life bearable now. The stamp in the corner makes the second half official. The stack is warm caramel over chestnut.

After that, the catchall tray, the small honest ledger by the door where pocket change lands every evening. SOME FOR LATER arches over the top of the stamp and SOME FOR NOW answers from below, with two coins resting between them. Looks great pressed into the golden tan.

And finally, the one we liked the most. Her method for a new year is a single word, so the journal cover says ONE WORD FOR THE YEAR and leaves the ruled line beneath it empty. Flow and grow have had their turns. The duo comes in deep green and deep wine.
