Kaitlyn & Austin × Leatherius Woodman – a private wedding gift study

From the Practice Log – a private wedding-gift study from Leatherius Woodman.

A July study.

Kaitlyn and Austin marry on Friday, October 16, 2026, in the hills just outside Traverse City, Michigan. Most of their room is coming from somewhere else, so nearly every guest will arrive with a bag in hand and carry that same bag home full of the weekend.

Everything on this page comes from what the two of them chose to publish about their day, worked by hand into three possible directions for a guest tag. We sketched them freely and without commission, as a study. Each direction does a different emotional job, and a couple should get to pick which job they want done.

Quiet October – the formal mark

Their own published lockup, set as plainly as we know how: K & A in geometric capitals above a single rule, with the date 10.16.2026 beneath in small, even numerals. In the render the one stamp sits on three leathers at once. Cognac and forest green take it blind; black takes it in gold foil and turns quietly formal. A guest reads it at the door in half a second and needs nothing explained. It is the safest of the three decisions, and on good leather the safe decision often ages the most gracefully.

The Bay Line – the place keepsake

TRAVERSE CITY runs straight across the top in spaced capitals, above one long baseline with a single low hill rising from it, above the year 2026. We kept the hill to one calm arc so the mark stays abstract and wholly ours. The whole family here is pressed blind. On blueberry leather the mark reads like country remembered at dusk, while cognac and natural warm it toward morning. This tag leaves their names off entirely; the town and the year do the remembering, and before cutting anything we would want to hear that they are at peace with that.

Two Lanes, One Road – the story keepsake

Two parallel lines rise from the base and bend toward each other until they merge into one road, which ends in a small arrowhead aimed north. INTO FOREVER sits beneath in small capitals, a phrase lifted gently from the way they tell their own beginning. Guests who know the first-date story will find the lanes in it; everyone else will see a road heading Up North, and both readings hold. Pressed blind into poppy red and cognac it is the warmest of the three, and on black leather the road runs in gold foil. It is the one we would most want them to see.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
