La-Z-Boy Incorporated × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

An August study.

For La-Z-Boy Incorporated.

A script that loops like an easy afternoon, with INCORPORATED holding it steady underneath. We pressed the complete lockup lengthwise along the tag – blueberry for the deep navy of the mark, caramel for the shade a favorite recliner turns with the years. The black tag carries the gold.

Supply chain people call the final leg the last mile, and in this company's world every last mile has the same destination. So the route line leaves the garage and, two switchbacks later, arrives as a recliner with the footrest already up – a keychain duo in navy blueberry and chestnut sicilian-brown.

The dopp kits travel with the people who move the goods, so the same mark rides small in the lower corner of the stack – blueberry over sicilian-brown, one bag for the road and one for the way home.

A catchall tray in golden arizona – where the pockets empty at the end of the day. The stamp signs the day off the way the chair does: footrest up, OFF DUTY.

Before the recliner was a category, it was a drawing two cousins made in a Monroe garage in 1927. The journal cover keeps that first wood-slat chair, patent style, in dark espresso and in caramel – the pages wait for whatever gets drawn next.
