Loren and Judy Sprowl Limited Partnership × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A August study.
Loren and Judy Sprowl Limited Partnership was filed with the Florida Division of Corporations on October 12, 2021, and has stayed active ever since, its annual reports recorded through a February 2026 filing. The record is spare. Two general partners, Loren and Judy Sprowl, and a principal city of Port Richey. The legal name says what the state requires and stops there. We take that spareness as the brief, and since our own order book remembers a travel piece once finding its way to Loren, this study keeps to things that travel or ride on a key.
As found
In every public source the partnership appears as uppercase registry text; the state's typesetting is its entire visual record. So we set the legal name in quiet capitals on white, exactly as found, and let it stand as the study's first plate.
The mark this study proposes
The name hands us its own idea. AND is the load-bearing word: two people held together by one durable structure. A capital L carries a foot that steps to the right; a capital J answers with a hook that tucks to the left. Give the two letters one shared stem and they become a single glyph – both initials standing on the same spine, the way both partners stand on one filing. Beneath the glyph sits SPROWL in letterspaced capitals, with the founding year 2021 below. We tried the initials side by side first, and they read as strangers sharing a bench. The shared stem is what makes it a partnership, though a reader may see the L before the J, or the other way around, and we have made peace with that.
Pressed
The glyph stacks taller than it is wide, so the tags stand upright, the mark pressed high on the face. With no verified palette to honor, we chose leathers the way one furnishes a private study. Black takes the gold foil pass, the only leather in our line that ever does, and gives the family its formal note. Behind it, dark espresso runs near-black in its own shadows, and caramel keeps the warm tan that classic luggage has always worn; both browns take blind deboss, ink-free and permanent. One each
A partnership of two suggests its own edition of two. Dark espresso for one keyring and caramel for the other, both blind debossed, the shared stem pressed below the rivet where a thumb finds it without looking. Which partner carries which is their business.
