An August study.
For Memphis Jewish Home & Rehab and Temple Israel Sisterhood.
The petal mark was made for pressing – layered curves that keep their motion even after the color is gone. It runs lengthwise across a trio of tags: pale sea-blue and navy for the aqua and sky layers of the bloom, pale warm greige for the gray of the lettering.
“A place to grow, not to merely grow old” – their words, and the Sisterhood sells Holland tulip bulbs to prove it. So the companion die plants one: bulb under the ground line, bloom over it, A PLACE TO GROW along the base. On the toiletry bags it sits low in the corner, navy over deep brown.
The same bulb travels on the keychains, pale sea-blue and navy – carried by the people who hold the keys to the place.
A catchall tray in golden tan for the end of a long shift – glasses and keys land in the bowl, and the bulb waits at the bottom, already planted.
The Sisterhood keeps Rosh Chodesh, the new moon that opens every Jewish month, and a journal runs on the same calendar. Its die is a young crescent over BEGIN AGAIN – pressed on navy for the night sky, and on pale warm greige beside it.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
