Three luggage-tag studies for Newmark

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world organizations.

An August study.

Useful geometry for work that moves people and places

Newmark is a commercial real estate advisor and service provider to institutional investors, corporations, owners, and occupiers. Its public platform spans leasing, capital markets, valuation, property management, consulting, workplace strategy, and transaction management.

The current identity uses bold black angular type, a separate striped geometric device, rectilinear modules, property grids, and a deep green field. These independent studies never reproduce the name, initials, ticker, slogan, or complete mark. Instead, they assign the system's parallel diagonals, repeated modules, and exact straight edges to three everyday objects.

As leather luggage tags, the designs could be considered for a transaction closing, client move-in, team milestone, conference, office occasion, regional travel, or year-end recognition. Any use would remain subject to brokerage, fiduciary, conflict, anti-bribery, procurement, public-sector, client, and mark-approval rules.

Leather and treatment

Deep green, warm tan, and charcoal leather connect the set to Newmark's public register without becoming corporate merchandise. Tonal impressions keep the objects architectural and useful; one fine antique-brass line supplies a formal closing-gift option without copying the logo's black-and-white contrast.

The three concepts

1. The Tied Parcel

Two diagonal cords cross a rectangular parcel and meet at one compact knot. The bands transform the identity's striped geometry into a physical act of securing something valuable before it changes hands.

2. The Park Bench

A simple park bench is built from five clean horizontal slats on two legs. Repetition from the visual system becomes a recognizable public amenity—a small piece of place made for people to use.

3. The Carpenter's Pencil

One flat carpenter's pencil rests on a confident diagonal, with a broad body and clearly cut point. Its exact edges and working angle translate the brand's engineered geometry into the ordinary tool used before a plan becomes physical.

These are independent design studies for appropriate team, partner, collaborator, adviser, vendor, volunteer, or client occasions. No affiliation or endorsement is implied. Every image is a render used to test the object before cutting a physical die.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual.
