Ninety One × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Ninety One.

For the warm-up, we put the Ninety One logo on the luggage tags – golden tan for the amber upper fields, dark espresso for the ochre below. The third tag is black, and on black the press turns to gold foil.

Next, we took their purpose – "Investing for a better tomorrow" – and kept the word that does the work. A sun half-risen over the horizon, TOMORROW beneath it.

On the toiletry bags it sits low in the corner of a golden tan and dark espresso stack – the logo's own two warms, in leather.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

The journals carry the same sun, in honeyed russet and dark espresso; a better tomorrow gets written down somewhere first.

Then, the keychains. Ninety One says it began "in a year of extraordinary change" – so we let one field of their square turn. Three squares hold their posts; the fourth is caught mid-rotation, and the year stands beneath.

The duo runs golden tan and black. Black carries the gold.

And finally, the one we kept coming back to. The catchall tray carries heartwood – a growth ring for every year since 1991, closing on 91 at the core.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
