OakStone Health and Nutrition × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
An August study.
OakStone Health and Nutrition is a dietitian practice in Virginia's West Piedmont – Martinsville and the counties around it – started by Samantha Turner after she recognized her own community needed nutrition care close to home. The promise on their home page is helping people find “the balance between eating foods you love and nutrition habits for better health,” and the recipes they publish keep that promise honest: strawberries and oats share the table with meatloaf and the occasional biscuit, because the goal is habits a real kitchen can keep.
Their seal won us over before the words did. A small circular mark: a person standing at the center of a ring of garden produce, a capital R on the chest – we read it as the dietitian's R – and OAKSTONE curving along the bottom in white on deep green. We pressed that seal faithfully, then let the garden it draws spread across the rest of the bundle.
Pressed
The seal is compact and round, so all three luggage tags stand upright with the mark blind debossed at the center of the face. We cut the trio from the brand outward – deep green leather first, since it is the seal's own field, with warm tan caramel beside it. A third tag in pale warm greige gray sand carries the white of the original line work.

The Carrot Key
Keys are the most repeated object in anyone's day, and repetition is OakStone's whole theory of health. So the fob carries a key drawn as a carrot – the greens loop into the bow and the root tapers down the shank, ending in two square teeth cut for the lock. Small turns, daily, until the door opens. The duo pairs deep green with honeyed russet, a harvest color that suits a practice sponsoring SNAP at the Uptown Martinsville farmers' market.

The Sprig Lockup
Dopp kits ask for a maker's mark rather than a poster, so we set a compact lockup: a young three-leaf sprig above OAKSTONE, with HEALTH AND NUTRITION letterspaced beneath. It sits blind debossed in the lower right corner of each bag, small enough to read as a signature. The stack pairs warm tan caramel over deep brown dark espresso, a grounded pair that lets a green brand travel as quiet craft.

The Garden Ring
On the catchall tray the seal's garden opens into a frame. An open wreath of everyday garden produce, joined along a continuous vine, circles a bare center – bare on purpose, because the middle belongs to whatever gets emptied from a pocket at day's end. Keys land inside the garden. The tray is golden tan arizona, the sunlit leather this wreath was waiting for.

The Even Scale
For the journals we took OakStone's own sentence at its word. An old two-pan balance holds a biscuit on one side and a strawberry on the other, and the beam is level – neither outweighs the other, which is the counseling philosophy in one picture. FIND THE BALANCE runs beneath the base. We pressed it generously into the lower right corner of two journals, deep green and warm tan caramel, the kind of books that end up holding meal plans and workshop notes.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
