Rachael Hood × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.
An August study.
For Rachael Hood.
First, the whole job of a luggage tag in two words. We set THIS ONE above an old printer's fist pointing straight down at the bag it hangs on – the proofreader's mark, promoted to baggage claim.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather. The black tag of the trio carries the words in gold foil; classic caramel and pale sea-blue take a blind press.

Next, a modest medal. Thirteen best luggage tags is the standing record, so ours pins on a rosette and titles itself THE 14TH BEST LUGGAGE TAG – forever one spot shy of the list, still wearing the ribbon. The trio keeps to prize-ribbon colors, from deep wine to pale rose.

Then we stamped the carousel itself: a ring of lookalike suitcases circling EASILY THE BEST BAG HERE, one of them starred. The leathers restage the joke – two quiet suitcase colors, and the warm red one that wins.

Then the shortest review a destination can earn. A road swings out between two peaks toward the sun, and WORTH THE TRIP stands beneath, running lengthwise along the tag in deep green and honeyed russet. It looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

Next, the ritual behind every packing hack ever published: a checklist with all boxes already ticked, down to GONE. Pale warm greige for the paper, deep espresso brown for the pen.

And finally, for every bag that goes farther than it looks. A small suitcase lets out a long looping route that ends at a star, a little plane midway, and FARTHER THAN IT LOOKS runs beneath. Dusty lavender for the haze of distance; mottled chestnut for the miles already in the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
