Rush University Medical Center × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

An August study.
For Rush University Medical Center.
As found: the anchor cross in Rush green beside the long serif wordmark. By their own reading the shield stands for preservation and protection, the anchor cross for hope and steadfastness, and beneath it all runs the motto ministrare per scientiam – serving through scientific knowledge.
The lockup is built long, so it runs lengthwise down the tag: one in deep green for Rush green, one in golden tan for the old Rush Medical College gold their history page still keeps. The black tag carries the lockup in gold foil.
Genomic surveillance draws rooted trees: every case a tip, every branch traced back until the lineages gather into one line. On the companion mark that line runs home to Rush's own anchor – steadfast at the root, branching toward the city.
On the keychains the tree rides in deep green and true black. The black fob carries it in gold.
On the dopp kit it keeps to the lower corner, a quiet maker's mark pressed blind into golden tan over deep brown.
The catchall tray – where pockets empty at the end of the day – takes the tree at full size in golden tan.
A genome is read the way a book is read, letter by letter, and the craft is noticing the one that changed – so the journal cover carries five ruled lines of sequence with a single letter reversed out. One journal in deep green, one in pale greige, the color of an unwritten page.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
