Samantha & Brian × Leatherius Woodman – a private wedding gift study

A July study.
Samantha and Brian marry on October 11, 2026, on a knoll above a lake in Chittenden, Vermont. The weekend they have planned asks the whole room to travel and stay awhile: friends sharing houses on a mountainside, a reunion wearing a wedding's clothes. So luggage, for once, earns a place in the story.
They met in Galway in 2018. Boston came after, and with it a hosting habit that ran to something nearly every month. Now the same friends are being called up a mountain, and that published arc, from one shore to another and then uphill, is all the material we allowed ourselves. Below are three directions we drew of our own accord, a study made before any conversation, each answering a different question about what a small tag is for. Each is shown as a small family – one stamp pressed across three leathers, so the mark can be judged in more than one skin.
The Quiet Seal
One ring, one line of type inside it. S&B sits above a short rule, and beneath the rule the date, 10.11.2026, set exactly as the couple writes it. Everything else stays outside the circle, which is the point; a seal can welcome the last guest with the same calm it offered the first. The render shows the same seal pressed blind into cognac and into natural leather; on black it is laid in gold foil, and the ring dresses for evening.
Knoll & Water
A single rounded hill rises over a straight waterline, and the water gives the hill back as a reflection. Beneath the reflection, CHITTENDEN VERMONT in wide-tracked capitals, the two words parted by one small solid diamond. The piece records the ground the ceremony stands on, and we left the date to the seal so each tag keeps its own job. In the render the whole family is pressed blind, forest green alongside natural and cognac, and a mark this spare sits in each grain like weather.
The Long Way to the Lake
The third direction presumes the most, because it tells their story back to them. One straight line runs the length of the tag, with three filled stops along it. The top stop reads GALWAY 2018, the place they met. BOSTON holds the middle. At the foot, VERMONT 2026, where everyone is being asked to go next. We kept the drawing to a route and little else, since their own telling supplies the meaning and a tag ought to stay quieter than the people carrying it. The render presses the route blind into poppy red and into blueberry leather; on black it goes in gold foil. If we have read the arc wrong, this is the one to set aside.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
