Three luggage-tag studies for SouthState Securities
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world organizations.
An August study.
Steady objects for relationships built over time
SouthState Securities presents sales and trading, strategy, public finance, market updates, and live events as its principal public routes. The homepage places an explicit emphasis on strong portfolios and lasting relationships, supported by a bank-affiliated broker-dealer structure.
The current identity uses separated warm-gold ribbon pieces, consistent gaps, deep blue typography, pill-shaped calls to action, three equal service cards, and short gold underlines. These independent studies do not reproduce the name, broken-ribbon S, initials, slogan, ticker, financial chart, municipal seal, shield, dollar icon, or transaction language. The system's ordered relationships instead become three seedlings on a shared sill, a doormat waiting at one threshold, and a handled travel thermos pouring into a cup.
As leather luggage tags, the concepts could be considered for approved public-finance conferences, regional team travel, issuer or adviser events, service milestones, and carefully reviewed relationship occasions. Any use would remain subject to broker-dealer, municipal-securities, anti-pay-to-play, public-sector, gift, procurement, and trademark rules, and the designs make no performance or suitability claim.
Leather and treatment
Deep navy, warm natural tan, and charcoal leather give the collection a restrained professional register. Tonal impressions make the hospitality objects feel quietly useful; one antique-brass edge on charcoal recalls the public gold accent without copying the mark.
The three concepts
1. Three Pots on the Sill
Three equal seedlings sit in plain pots along one shared windowsill. The site's three-card rhythm becomes an everyday picture of separate things receiving the same steady care.

2. Mat at the Door
A simple two-panel front door stands above one waiting doormat. A short underline beneath a larger field turns into a recognizable threshold and an unforced image of welcome.

3. The Pour
A handled travel thermos tips toward a small steaming cup. The site's rounded capsule becomes an object of traveling hospitality, with the visible stream making relationship care concrete rather than financial.

These are independent design studies for appropriate team, partner, collaborator, adviser, vendor, volunteer, or client occasions. No affiliation, approval, or endorsement is implied. Every image is a render used to test the object before cutting a physical die.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual.
