Story Changes Culture × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.
An August study.

First, the warm-up: we put the full wordmark on the luggage tags. Navy for their ink and golden tan for the orange they accent with; the pale greige tag stands in for all the white space they leave around their words.

Next, the stitch. Story Changes Culture calls stories the connective tissue between people – so we set the name in two lines of type and sewed them together. One running thread passes under STORY, loops down the margin and comes back under CHANGES CULTURE, where the needle is still mid-stitch.

It looks genuinely beautiful when stamped onto the leather. We pressed it into the lower right corner of the toiletry bags, navy over chestnut.

Keychains with the stitch look just awesome too – one navy, one golden tan.

Then we gave it the whole base of the golden tan catchall tray, at generous size, where pockets get emptied at the end of the day.

And finally, the journals. The morning ritual in this practice is coffee, then DESIGN YOUR DAY written at the top of a blank page – so that is what the cover now carries: the phrase above empty ruled lines, with the ring the coffee cup left behind. One journal in navy, one in pale greige – the ink and the page.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
