Studio M Hospitality × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Studio M Hospitality.

For the warm-up, we put the Studio M Hospitality logo on the luggage tags, lengthwise, the way that wide lockup wants to lie. The trio runs from pale greige through deep wine to black – their own monochrome with the wine of their portraits let in. The black tag carries the gold.

Next, the room key. We drew the tag that once hung behind every front desk, old bit key still on its ring, and lettered it EVERY ROOM TELLS A STORY – a studio that writes design narratives for a living may as well say so on the thing that opens the door. On the black fob the press goes down in gold, the way brass tags were once lettered; the deep wine fob takes it blind.

Then, the toiletry bags. A banded bar of hotel soap under COMPLIMENTS OF THE HOUSE – which is exactly what a gifted kit is. Warm gray over dark espresso, pressed blind in the corner.

For the passport covers, we rang the front desk bell – CHECKING IN, caught mid-strike. A studio that builds hotels in other cities spends a fair share of its life arriving. Deep wine and pale greige. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

The catchall tray became a drawing sheet: a guest room plan, door swing and all, with EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE in the title block. The tray's evening duty and the space planner's creed turn out to be the same sentence. Pressed into the golden tan.

And finally, the one we liked the most. A journal is a room with work going on inside, so the cover hangs the sign – DO NOT DISTURB, DESIGN IN PROGRESS. Black beside warm gray; on the black cover the blind press reads as a quiet shadow relief. It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
