TNSAE CEO/Executive Director Retreat 2026 × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
TNSAE CEO/Executive Director Retreat 2026 is the sixth annual out-of-state retreat of the Tennessee Society of Association Executives, held September 9–11 at the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted this year by the resort together with the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau. We heard this room is gathering, and it is a particular kind of room: executive directors crossing a state line to speak confidentially about what has worked and what has cost them. Space is limited by design. When we looked, the official page showed two seats remaining.
The mark asked for the study on its own merits. Four translucent squares overlap above the black capitals, and each overlap makes a new shade where two colors agree to share ground; leather offers depth alone, so we wondered going in what would survive the press. The place asked too. Birmingham is the sixth address for a retreat that changes its address every year, and a luggage tag is the honest object for a room that only ever meets somewhere else.
The mark, as found

Pressed
Blueberry takes the strongest of the squares and poppy red stands in for the warm ones, both pulled straight from the sampled palette. Black carries the gold.

The sixth stop
The retreat keeps a travel history the way some organizations keep minutes: five hosted destinations already behind it, Memphis the earliest, each one chosen and then left for the next. The companion design walks that road. An S-curving route with five pressed stops leads to a six-point star, and the star reads SIXTH STOP and BIRMINGHAM 2026, for the people who will remember which bend on the line was theirs.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
