UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

An August study.

For UCLA Financial Aid and Scholarships.

First the mark as it will strike, then the lockup running lengthwise down a family of luggage tags – the way a mark this wide wants to travel. Navy carries their blue, golden tan their gold. The black tag takes the lockup in gold foil.

The office exists to help remove financial barriers, so here is a barrier caught at the moment it quits the job – arm raised, the road running clear toward first light. It rides the keychains, where access already lives, and sits small in the corner of the toiletry bags, navy over deep brown. On the black keychain the raised gate goes down in gold.

A balloon climbs by letting go; the sacks are barely away and the ascent has already begun. The golden tan tray is where the day's ballast lands, and the journals – one navy, one golden tan – are for whatever gets written once the load is lighter.
