Well Inspired Travels × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

Well Inspired Travels plans wellness-minded travel out of Missouri, and by its own account has spent over twenty years sourcing “healthy options across the globe” for its travelers. What we liked first, before any letterform, was the banner on the site: “THE FAMILY BEHIND WELL INSPIRED TRAVELS.” Meet the Prongers, the page says, and it means the whole household; Lauren Pronger leads the studio, and the pages carry the settled tone of people who have decided a trip should send you home better than it found you.
The mark is a single-color wordmark, black on open ground, WELL INSPIRED TRAVELS set clean and modern with the name doing all the work. Lettering that spare takes a press beautifully; every stroke lands whole in the leather. And the name carries a picture the logo leaves unspoken, which is where the second half of this study came from.

Pressed lengthwise
We pressed the wordmark lengthwise on cool country gray and deep forest green, the gray following the site's quieter modern accents and the green its land-and-nature imagery. Black carries the gold foil.
The world from the well
The name holds a well, so we drew one in bold uniform outline – a stout stone base under a small pitched roof, two posts between them carrying the crank-axle. From the axle a single rope drops toward the well mouth, and what rises on it, hoisted just clear of the rim, is a globe about half the well's width, one meridian and two latitude lines, hanging from a loop at its pole. Our first sketch weighted those lines too heavily and the globe read as a ball of yarn at tag scale; thinner lines settled it, though we argued over the crank handle longer than the drawing deserved. Under the base runs a single line of plain capitals, EXPLORE THE WORLD TODAY. You draw from a well whatever the well holds. This one holds the world.
