Good Measure – a leather collection from Logan, Utah
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
A August study.
Good Measure is a small collection of leather stamps rooted in Logan, Utah, drawn from Cache Valley and the kitchens it feeds. Five designs, pressed into luggage tags, journals and the rest of the line.
First, we drew the road up Logan Canyon as a spoon. The rock is cut in solid black, and the white channel winding through it is the spoon itself – the handle bends where the road bends, and the bowl at the far end is the lake. UP THE CANYON beneath.
It looks genuinely beautiful.

Two of the tags run deep green and golden tan. The black one carries the design in gold.

Next, we drew a measuring cup and filled it past its last mark – GOOD MEASURE, the way this valley tends to pour. It gave the collection its name, and it sits small in the lower corner of the toiletry bags, warm tan over chestnut.

Then a crest for the keyring – a whisk and a wooden spoon crossed like swords, with MADE FROM SCRATCH around them. The duo runs deep green and warm tan.
Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Cache Valley is named for the trappers who hid their treasures here, and the tray by the door is where a household hides its own. So we drew a recipe box with its lid tipped open and a row of cards standing inside, and set THE CACHE beneath it – pressed at generous size into the golden tan tray.

And finally, the one we liked the most. A recipe card with PASS IT DOWN on the title line and every rule below it left blank – that recipe is written by whoever carries the journal next. Journals in pale warm greige and deep wine.
Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
