Table Stakes – a leather collection for Broomfield game nights

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.

A September study – Volume I-A.

Table Stakes – a small leather collection for game night, designed with Broomfield's tabletop players in mind. A leather dice tray and a campaign journal lead it; keychains and luggage tags follow.

First, the leather dice tray. We drew one thin line for a twenty sided die to land on, and let the line give under the weight – A SOFT PLACE FOR HARD LUCK, arched around a die that has just come up a one.

It looks genuinely beautiful pressed into the golden tan.

Next, the campaign journals. A journal like this fills with invented places and with battles the room alone remembers – so the cover swears ALL OF THIS HAPPENED, and a proper footnote concedes the rest: at the table.

Then, the keychains. The die has just rolled a one, and we hung a halo over it – BLAME THE DICE, and the dice, for their part, maintain their innocence.

The deep green fob takes a blind stamp. The black fob carries the halo in gold.

And finally, the luggage tags, for the game bag and the convention duffel. Six chairs around a table seen from above, one pulled back and waiting – SAME TABLE, NEXT WEEK.

We pressed it upright on navy and on warm red. The black tag carries it in gold.

The six chairs travel to the toiletry bags for the away games – navy over deep brown, stamped low in the corner of each bag.
