The Warm Side - a Harwich Port leather collection

An August collection.

Five stamps for the warm side of the Cape. We spent August drawing what Harwich Port knows by heart, from the round harbor to the October bogs, and pressed each drawing into leather, from luggage tags to wrap journals.

First, Wychmere Harbor, which is very nearly a perfect circle of water. We drew the rim as one ring with its narrow channel mouth, scattered the moorings inside, and set a lone catboat among them.

It looks genuinely beautiful on the tags – warm red for the bogs, navy for the Sound, and the third tag wears the pale greige of the beach at Bank Street.

Next, the quahog, drawn rib by rib with the word set plainly beneath, because half the pleasure of a quahog is saying it. Keychains in navy and pale greige.

Then the October bogs. Seen from above, a wet harvest is one boom line holding a crowd of floating berries against the shore, so that is exactly what we drew.

It sits in the corner of the dopp kits, honeyed russet over dark espresso – the colors of the harvest itself.

Then the village center: a gabled storefront under the date 1848, the kind of building Main Street keeps. We set it at the middle of the golden tan catchall tray, where keys and beach glass land at the end of the day.

And finally, the beach plum, the dune's own stubborn little orchard. A journal is where the jam recipe gets written down – the sprig is pressed into the corner of the cover, one journal in dusty lavender and one in deep green.
