A Town with a Twist – leather studies of Lititz, Pennsylvania

A September study – Volume I-A.
A small leather collection rooted in Lititz, Pennsylvania – a town that has twisted pretzels since 1861 and never lost its sweet tooth. Everything below, from luggage tags to journals, is stamped from the town's own material.
First, the namesake. We drew one fat soft pretzel – commercial pretzel baking began here in 1861 – and ringed it with A TOWN WITH A TWIST.
It looks great pressed into the golden tan of the catchall tray.
The same twist sits in the corner of the journals, one warm tan and one deep green, and on the toiletry bags stacked warm tan over chestnut.
Next, we walked down to Lititz Springs Park and put the ducks in the die – one duck leading four ducklings along the straight stone channel, under the words MEET ME AT THE SPRINGS.
The scene runs lengthwise along the luggage tags, in navy and in deep green. Black carries the gold.
And finally, we wrapped a hard candy in twist-end paper and gave the wearer a credential: OFFICIAL SWEET TOOTH. A keychain meant to leave the counter riding on a paper bag of sweets.
The vivid magenta fob looks like it came straight off the candy wall.
On the black fob the candy presses in gold – foil-wrapped, the way a good candy arrives.
