Brought You These – a leather stamping study in flowers given by hand (Volume I-C)

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of original leather stamping studies.

A September study – Volume I-C.

Brought You These is a small collection about flowers that change hands – bought on an errand of affection and handed over in paper. We pressed its four designs into leather goods that keep working long after the water in the vase has been changed.

First, the luggage tags. We lettered GONE CELEBRATING along the tag's length, with a trail of thrown petals tumbling off the last letter – the sign you would hang on a doorknob, moved to the handle of a weekend bag.

The black tag carries the words in gold; on pale rose and pale sea-blue the press runs blind, and the petals read like the shadow of confetti.

Next, the keychains. A hand holds out a little paper-wrapped bouquet, and beneath it the die says BROUGHT YOU THESE – the whole errand in three words. It goes where the house keys go, so the handoff happens again every time the door does.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather – once on dusty rose, once on deep green.

Then, AGAIN NEXT YEAR. We bent a single bloom's stem into a full circle that returns to its own flower – the shape of a standing date. It sits on the journals where the good occasions get written down, in deep wine and in pale greige, and rides the corner of the toiletry bags – stacked warm tan over chestnut – for the trip that turns annual.

And finally, the catchall tray in golden tan. Keys land here at the end of the day, so the base says SET IT DOWN, with a few petals already settling around the words. It looks genuinely beautiful.
