Abundant Life Fellowship Church × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies in leather.
An August study.
For Abundant Life Fellowship Church.
First, the scripture the church is named for – Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly. So we set a cup at the center of a seal, filled past the brim and running over down both sides, with the church's name around the ring and Ridgely, Tennessee beneath.
Pressed at full size into the golden tan of a catchall tray – the dish by the door where keys and pocket change land after church. It looks genuinely beautiful.
Next, the same seal signs the corner of the toiletry bags, warm tan over chestnut – the tones of the church house's own brick.
And on the keychains, for whoever unlocks the building early and locks it late. The black fob carries the seal in gold.
Then, Reelfoot country. Bald cypress lives with its feet in the water and stands through every rise of it – the tree the scriptures call planted by the waters. We drew three of them above their own still reflection and ran the scene lengthwise along a trio of luggage tags, in the warm tan and deep green of the churchyard, joined by a true black one. The black tag carries the scene in gold.
And finally, the journals. The church's own invitation is "Come Grow with us", so we put a young seedling over those words – a journal being where the growing gets written down. Deep green and warm tan. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
