Adventure Travel and Cruise Center × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Adventure Travel and Cruise Center has been putting travelers on the road out of Las Cruces since 1978. Wanda Mattiace owns it, and the agency describes itself as southern New Mexico’s only full-service travel agency, running custom-tailored tours that are personally guided. Groups get their own buses. The guides carry historical and cultural certifications, a detail we keep coming back to, because it means the person at the front of the bus has studied the place on purpose. The live site names them a 2026 Best Travel Agent, and their own line says why better than we could: “We don’t just go there, we know there.”
The mark earns its keep too. Adventure sits in charcoal and Travel in vivid blue, fused into one long word. A blue swoosh curves underneath like a route already taken. We went back and forth on the small “and Cruise Center” at the lower right; at tag scale it holds, barely, so it stays. The tiny support copy and the URL sit below the wordmark in the original; both are too small to survive a die, so they stay off the tag.
The mark, as found

Pressed
We pressed it on navy-blue and on pale gray-sand, the blue leather answering the Travel accent while the gray-sand keeps the charcoal honest. Black carries the gold foil.

THERE, Marked
The companion design presses the tagline into geography. One paper road map lies unfolded, edges gently wavy. Two creases divide it into three panels, and a dashed route enters at the lower left and loops its way up to a large teardrop pin in the upper right, pointing straight down on the end of the line. We left the map blank on purpose; the pin already knows where it is going. It runs lengthwise on the same leathers as the mark, with one line of plain capitals beneath: WE KNOW THERE.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
