Anew Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Anew Travel is a boutique storefront agency in Kirkwood, Missouri, founded in 2021 by Christina Royer on the belief that travel should feel effortless from the first phone call to the final night. That span, first call to final night, is the whole job in nine words, and the house line compresses it further: “Travel Smarter. Travel Anew.” Christina currently serves as President of the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Travel Advisors, and the homepage claims its ground plainly, calling the shop “STL’s SMART LUXURY AGENCY.” Opening a storefront agency in 2021 took a certain nerve. Five years on, the door is still open.

The mark earned this study on its own. High-contrast serif capitals read ANEW TRAVEL, and in the gap between the words a small map pin hangs, held level by a thin rule on either side, the way a pendant sits on a taut cord. Tiny letterspaced capitals beneath carry the tagline. The whole arrangement already behaves like an engraved plate, which is most of the way to behaving like a die.

The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise

Blueberry answers the slate-navy of the wordmark, and indian-summer picks up the warm russet the site keeps at its edges. Black carries the mark in gold. We doubted the tiny tagline capitals would hold at tag scale; run lengthwise they found the room, though on the darker hides they ask a raking light for help.

Travel Anew

The companion design keeps their pin and gives it a morning: a seven-ray sunrise inside the map pin, set portrait above TRAVEL ANEW. The word means starting over, and a sun coming up inside the place you are headed seemed like the honest way to draw that.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
