Austin Freng Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A July study.
Austin Freng Travel plans custom vacations from Grand Forks, North Dakota, and the header says everything the agency wants said: “Your dream vacation starts here.” Austin founded the agency and runs it, and he answers 24/7/365, federal holidays included. We read that line twice. He spent more than five years as a security officer before this work, and it shows; he built a custom system that keeps a whole trip's information in one place, so nothing wanders off between the booking and the gate.
His mark is the name alone, bold black sans-serif on white, and type that plain presses as cleanly as anything we have set a die to. It also left the whole map to us.

First, the name as the homepage wears it, pressed straight before we changed a thing.
The mark this study proposes
The name wanted somewhere to go. We set a map pin at one end and an arrowhead at the other, with a dashed route running between them, and let AUSTIN FRENG TRAVEL ride beneath the journey. We argued over the dashes; five read as an ellipsis and seven crowded the pin, so six it stayed.
Pressed lengthwise
Turquoise, because the homepage is wall-to-wall Caribbean water, and gray-sand for the restraint of that white header. On the black tag the route runs in gold.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
