AZ Travel Club × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

AZ Travel Club is the boutique travel practice of Dina Holland, an advisor in Peoria, Arizona with seventeen years inside the industry. Her hero line reads “Take the Trip You’ve Been Waiting For.” and the site’s own description promises “personal, unhurried journeys” – the kind with time to wander and talk to strangers. The 2026 departures bear this out; among them runs a women-only rail journey from Munich to Budapest by way of Salzburg and Vienna, four capitals taken at train speed.

Her emblem is what drew us to the bench. At first glance it reads as a fingerprint; look again and the lower ridges resolve into water. Three arched bands above, six tapering wave lines below; a thumbprint drawn in tide. We press marks into hide for a living, which makes us dealers in fingerprints of a sort, so a brand that chose one for its emblem had done half our thinking already. The vector arrives white on transparent ground, invisible until it stands on something dark, so we proofed it on near-black before touching leather, and every letter of the thin, wide-tracked wordmark held. It sits on one line and asks for a lengthwise tag.

Pressed lengthwise

Deep forest green sits nearest the site’s blue-teal, and a pale sea-blue answers the wave ridges outright. On black the mark goes down in gold. Our one worry was the lettering – capitals that thin and that widely spaced want a careful die at tag scale, and we kept going back to the render to check the crossbars.

Unhurried journeys

The companion design sets a vintage locomotive on a long, easy rail line that passes through four station circles, one for each capital on her route, beneath the words UNHURRIED JOURNEYS. It is her philosophy drawn as a picture: a line with stations worth stopping at. The train takes its time.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
