Beyond Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Beyond Travel plans tours and cruises from Chicago under a promise worth quoting whole: “Professional. Personal. Incomparable.” Owner Amrita Singh has called travel her central passion since the age of two, when family trips to India set the pattern early; by fifteen she had also crossed much of Western Europe and half of the United States. What she offers her clients now is the grown-up form of that habit – a listening ear at the planning table and an experienced safety net once they are far from home.
Her B is what drew us in. It is a white capital built from dozens of evenly spaced diagonal rays that fan outward into a rounded spine and two open bowls, so the letter appears to radiate past its own edges before the eye has finished reading it. A mark that already travels beyond its letterform, for a company named Beyond. That symmetry asked for a study on its own.
The mark, as found

Pressed
Blueberry answers the near-black navy their identity lives on, and gray-sand answers the quiet neutral space they keep around it. Black carries the B in gold.

Beyond the frame
The name gave us the second design almost for free. We set the radiating B inside a plain rectangular frame and let it break cleanly beyond the edge, a literal step past the boundary, run lengthwise along the tag. We did wonder whether so many fine rays would survive the die at this scale; pressed slow and deep, they hold, and the two open counters keep the letter legible.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
