Cabinet Légal Mastromonaco × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Cabinet Légal Mastromonaco.

For the warm-up, we redrew the long cartouche and put it on the luggage tags – navy for the midnight of the wordmark and warm tan beside it. The black tag carries the gold.

Next, we drew one continuous line. It arrives as the tangle a criminal file makes, and it leaves straight and level – EN TERMES CLAIRS, which is how the firm promises to speak. On the keychains the line runs in navy and in black, and the black fob carries the gold.

Then, the same line crossed onto the toiletry bags, navy over deep espresso, and onto the golden tan catchall tray. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

And finally, the journals, one in navy and one in the pale greige of the open field their mark sits on. A notebook opens the way every case must open – on a blank page. So we set PRÉSUMÉ INNOCENT in a slim cartouche cut after their own, and pressed it in the corner. It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
